This policy explains what information fasting.com collects, how it is used, and how to contact us about it. fasting.com is an informational site: there are no accounts, sign-ups, comments, or newsletter. The one exception is the contact form, described below under "Contact form".

Information we collect

fasting.com uses Google Analytics, a Google measurement service. Google Analytics runs by default on every visit until you make a choice in the cookie banner; see "Your cookie choice" below for what changes when you accept or reject. Google Analytics sets cookies, such as those starting with _ga and _ga_, that collect information including which pages you viewed, how long you spent on a page, the site that referred you, your device and browser type, and an approximate location based on your IP address.

Google Analytics is also set to record some interactions on this site automatically: scrolling, clicks on links that take you to another site, file downloads, and page changes. The same setting can record form interactions and embedded video plays. The Google tag on this site is also set to detect email addresses, phone numbers, and postal addresses typed into forms. The matching setting in our Google Analytics account (user-provided data collection) is turned off, and in our own tests of the contact form no such information was sent to Google, before or after accepting cookies. fasting.com has one form, the contact form described below under "Contact form", and no embedded videos.

Google Signals is an additional Google Analytics setting that is turned on for this site. Unlike the analytics cookies described above, it applies to your visits only if you accept in the cookie banner. If you accept, and you are signed in to a Google account with ad personalization turned on, Google can associate the data described above with your account and link it across your devices. Our Analytics reports can then include aggregated demographics and interests information about visitors as a group, provided by Google.

If you accept, your browser also sends requests, typically once at the start of a visit, to a Google advertising domain, stats.g.doubleclick.net, carrying the same analytics identifier used by Google Analytics.

This data is processed by Google. You can read Google's own explanation of how it uses this information at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

How long this data is kept follows the retention settings on our Google Analytics account.

You can limit this tracking. In your Google account's ad settings, at myadcenter.google.com, you can turn off ad personalization; Google Signals then no longer applies to your visits. You can opt out of Google Analytics across sites using Google's browser add-on. You can also block or clear cookies in your browser's settings.

Server logs

Like most websites, the web host that serves fasting.com keeps standard server logs for security and operational purposes. These logs can include your IP address, browser type, the pages you requested, and the time of your request.

Contact form

If you use the contact form, we collect your name (optional), your email address, the topic you choose, and your message.

This information is emailed to contact@fasting.com. We use it only to read your message and reply if needed; we do not use it for marketing.

A copy of each submission (your name if given, your email address, the topic, your message, the time it was sent, and whether the email went out) is also kept in a log on our web server, outside the publicly served part of the site, for at least 12 months. Entries older than 12 months are deleted the next time someone submits the contact form, not on a fixed schedule, so if nobody submits the form for a while, older entries remain until the next submission.

Our web host's own backups rotate on a 12-month cycle. A log entry can still remain in a backup for up to about 12 months after it has been deleted from the log itself, until the backup holding it rotates out.

We do not store your IP address. To limit how many messages can be sent from one connection, as a spam control, we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of it, made with a key that changes every day and used for nothing else.

The form sends the email from our web server. Email to contact@fasting.com is received through Google Workspace, our email provider.

Messages sent through the form are also kept in the contact@fasting.com mailbox, which is on Google Workspace and administered by us. We clear that mailbox on a yearly cycle, so a message is kept there for up to about 12 months. This is something we do ourselves rather than an automatic setting. You can ask us to delete your message sooner; see "Your rights and choices" below.

Fonts and images

Fonts and images on fasting.com are served from fasting.com itself, not from an external font or image service.

Some pages about the fasting-mimicking diet include one link to prolonlife.com, labelled as a commercial link. If you follow that link, or any other link away from fasting.com, you are subject to that site's own privacy policy, not this one.

Your rights and choices

You can ask what information relates to you, ask us to delete or correct it, or object to how it is used, by emailing privacy@fasting.com.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional legal rights over your information, for example under laws in the EU, UK, or California.

Children's privacy

fasting.com is not directed at children under 13, or under 16 where local law sets a higher age, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.
